Wooli Wooli Cafe sits right on Main Street in the quiet coastal village of Wooli, NSW, making it a natural pit stop for anyone passing through or settling in for a relaxed morning. It’s a straightforward café known for solid coffee and simple, honest food rather than anything flashy — which fits well with the town’s laid-back vibe.

The coffee is clearly taken seriously here. Regulars, including visitors focused on their caffeine fix, highlight consistently well-proportioned macchiatos and smooth blends. Whether you're grabbing a quick double espresso to kick off a fishing trip or settling in for a slower breakfast, the café delivers dependable quality. They offer a range of hot drinks from classic cappuccinos to chai lattes and even turmeric and masala chai options, complementing the Australian café staples.

Breakfast and lunch menus reflect a no-nonsense approach. You’ll find basics like smashed avocado and bacon with eggs for brekkie, alongside grilled chicken, fish, and beef burgers for lunch — straightforward fare that suits the casual seaside setting perfectly. Portion sizes and pricing tend to hit the right note for a small town, making it a convenient and approachable choice rather than a destination dining experience.

The atmosphere is easygoing, with a mix of outdoor and indoor seating. It’s especially welcoming for dog owners, with puppy-friendly outdoor spots where you can sip your coffee while the kids or furry friends enjoy the fresh air. Locals and tourists intersect here comfortably — people who come to catch up on the latest from the surf and fishing reports, or simply enjoy a friendly chat with the staff who are notably warm and approachable.

Given Wooli’s slow pace and limited hustle, the café matches the local rhythm. It’s best enjoyed in the morning or early afternoon when you’re fueling up for a beach walk, river fishing session, or just soaking in the coastal calm. You won’t find crowds or pretense, just reliable coffee and honest food in a place that feels part of the community heartbeat. If your visit to Wooli includes some downtime by the river or shore, Wooli Wooli Cafe is the kind of spot where you’ll feel like you’ve found a little local comfort along the way.

Read my reviews - macchiatos are my test of good cafe coffee. Getting one great macchiato is wonderful. Getting a second one might be an accident. Getting five in a row over three days with two different baristas means that these guys at Wooli know what they are doing. Each macchiato was a perfectly proportioned one shot macchiato (they asked if I wanted one or two shots). Just the right amount of milk steamed milk to create the layers without becoming a mini cappuccino. The beans they use from Byron Bay are excellent. Interesting that the last macchiato I had on day three was a bit different but still excellent. This is a natural product with the human factor still critical. Please forgive the impassioned description however getting this right puts this cafe above yet another cafe with a coffee machine. One morning I felt a bit over stimulated with coffee so I listened to the order of the customer ahead of me (a local tradie) and tried their mango smoothie. I don’t usually fill up on dairy based drinks. In this case I am glad a I did - flavoursome, great texture and oh so refreshing. With no added sugar, it might have even been healthy! It was late morning so I did not feel like filling up on the usual brekkie or lunch offerings. I spotted a vegetarian quiche. I trusted my eyes and I am thankful the gorgeous looking frittata was a delight. Why? Many cafes place a soupy bland egg mix into tasteless pastry into which unidentifiable veges drown. The Wooli Wooli Cafe quiche had thin properly cooked pastry with a range of veges that must have been fresh. To borrow a Masterchef phrase, the veges were the heroes of this dish. Their chef made this one - well done - a simple dish made and served well. There is nothing fancy about this cafe. Pleasant enough inside, I chose to sit outside on a basic wooden bench with my dogs. The combination of friendly customers, pleasant owner and staff and fresh sea air were a winner. You don’t need to doom scroll on your smart phone to discover the weather prognosis for the area. There is a sandwich board outside with well written and engaging explanation of the weather conditions for your holiday. Now you know how a simple cafe at a seaside village can get five stars.

Wooli is almost in the middle of no where. A seaside village. There is a servo, a pub, a continental bar, and the Wooli Wooli Cafe! Nothing special, but perfect! It’s what you hope every Ozzie cafe would be. Honest food (quality, quantity and pricing), local owners and staff who are welcoming and engaging and a local clientele who love them. A must do if you find yourself in Wooli one day.

We've had such a great family holiday in Wooli, with a relaxed laid back atmosphere & not alot to do it's not for those who like to be go go go. We stayed in a beautiful little beachside cottage R&J's which we highly recommend, cleàn,fully accommodating & dog friendly. Wooli has Beautiful clean beaches & river which leads out to the bar into open waters for the boaties making it great for fishing, swimming, exploring & BBQs with family plus the pooch. There are many holiday rentals as well as two caravan parks. The locals are quite friendly. The Wooli bowls club is a great place to have a few coldies, they also have Chinese for dinner meals. We will definitely be back.

My small family comes here often. Our favourites are the coffee, breakfast burger, and a slice of cake. The coffee is always really good. My husband loves the breakky burger. My daughter always gets the caramel milkshake. The cakes are always delicious. I’ve never had one I didn’t like. They also sell second-hand books, and I picked up some great titles for a really cheap price! We’re very thankful to have this little café here in Wooli.
